Although we Knock the Muslims for refusing to leave the 14 century with there laws and polotics ,theres much to be said about the simmlar laws in early England .
1) your were allowed a Woman stick where you could lawfully Beat the shit out of your wife in the market square.as long as it did no dissabeling injurys.
Also if the wife continued to Nag your ears off you could get one of these gadgets to shut her up
also if enough was enough you could take her to market and swap her for livestock ie) a pair of piggys
or some goats
and had this been the case today I could have retired to the Bahamas living a millonares lifestye
from the Pork & dairy products bussiness from my two marrages
